Bob Marley put it best when he said, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his ability to affect those around him positively.” This perfectly describes Clarisse’s effect on Montag in the novel Fahrenheit 451. In the novel, Clarisse was able to change Montag for the better. Guy Montag changed from being an apathetic book burner into a man with a curiosity of the world. The reason for this change was a girl named Clarisse, who showed him a different perspective of life. Clarisse exposed to Montag that he was unhappy and that there was more to life than was on the surface. Clarisse allowed Montag to see that he was not truly happy with himself.
