The first film in my opinion fails the Bechdel test. Although there are plenty female characters in Cinderella (2015) who talk to one another about something other than men, if you were to applying the 60 second conversation rule, the test does not pass. Cinderella and her mother had a heartfelt conversation but not one that related to the plot, instead, Cinderella mostly talks to animals. In the movie Cinderella says “we ladies must help one another”, I felt this line was ironic since she was talking to an animal and not woman character. In terms of the Race Bechdel test, the movie straight out fails since there are no coloured people who talk to one another. Nevertheless, Cinderella’s character was beautifully happy and especially important.

All in all, I enjoyed Black Window’s character since she is very powerful without a weapon, which in my opinion, this demonstrates are as strong as men sometimes even more. The last film Ant Man (2015), and it does not pass The Bechdel Test. There are only 3 characters who are female and those female characters do not talk to one another. In addition, the female characters in the film are in no way supportive of the plot, with the exception of Hope Pym yet as the movie progresses, she is seen as just a love interest in support of Ant Man’s character. Because superhero films in popular culture portray heterosexual relationships, a female character’s significance is generally her being in danger where the male hero must save her. If roles were reversed Hope would have stolen the suit since she is viewed as more physically and mentally capable than Scott in the beginning, however, this goes against her father wishes as its “too dangerous” for her to complete Ant Man’s mission. This creates bias to who has the ability and in this case gender is final cut and a man
