Christopher Columbus First Voyage

In the year of 1492 Christopher Columbus finally convinced the king and the queen of Spain to finance his first voyage (http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/latinamericatheconquest/p/Columbusfirst.htm ). On August 3, 1942 Columbus set sail( http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/latinamericatheconquest/p/Columbusfirst.htm ). Columbus knew this was going to be a long voyage. Although the voyage would be long Columbus was thrilled about the many discoveries he was soon to find. Columbus was in charge of three ships that set sail commonly known as, The Pinta, The Nina, and The Santa Maria ( http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/columbus-sets-sail ). Columbus knew this voyage would come with many horrible things such as storms, diseases, and so much more, but he was well off prepared for anything that was to come his way.
On October 12, 1492 the expedition spotted land on an island known as the Bahamas, but Columbus called it Spain( http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/latinamericatheconquest/p/Columbusfirst.htm ). He did this to many of the lands he discovered such as Cuba he called to be China, and Hispaniola to be Japan. Some were ordered to get supplies, and others were instructed to search for land that Columbus believed to still be there( http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/did-columbus-bring-syphilis-to-europe/ ). The third voyage similar to the other two voyages became a disaster as well. Columbus was still sure he hadn’t discovered much, but other explorers still believed that he had discovered something much greater than what was there previously. Columbus also had a chance to take a fourth voyage, although he was a poor governor his previous years. He went back one last time to explore the Caribbean’s. The fourth voyage ended the Columbus
