How Did Charles Darwin Define Honor

Honor can be viewed and defined in many different ways but here, we should use the definition “honesty, fairness, or integrity in ones beliefs and actions.” I hear the word honor and think of someone on a battlefield who has put everything and everyone before his own life. I do know that there are different types of honor and there is honor in admitting that you might be wrong or you might be defeated and accepting that. Charles Darwin was a man like that. It is very well known that Charles Darwin was the man who proposed the theory of evolution. The definition of his theory in his own words reads and I quote “it at once struck me that under these circumstances favourable variations would tend to be preserved, and unfavourable ones to be destroyed. The results of this would be the formation of a new species. Here, then I had at last got a theory by which to work". Darwin also received the Royal Medal in 1853, the Wollaston Medal in 1859, and the Copley Medal in 1864 for his work in geology. Charles Darwin’s funeral was by no means small, and showed just how well known and respected he was. He was buried in Westminster Abbey very close to Sir Isaac Newton and right beside Sir John Herschel, a close friend. The funeral was attended by thousands, many of whom were admirals, philosophers, other scientists, naturalists, and dignitaries.
