Scribes enriched literature throughout the kingdom, educating more citizens. He even required clergy member to be educated so they could study god’s without error. “.....;because what pious devotion dictated faithfully to the mind, the tongue, uneducated on account of the neglect of study, was not able to express in the letter without error”(Charlemagne’s Letter to Baugaulf of Fulda). All of this was eventually called the Carolingian Renaissance because of the progression of education and literature.

When Charlemagne started improving education, he also began educating his officials. By doing this, his officials were more capable to do their jobs and progress the empire. Now in government systems, officials are required to have an education. This is helpful because this means the officials are better equipped to make decisions and help the government.
Charlemagne expanded education and changed the how the world sees learning. His love for learning shaped the schools today. Without him, schools would not be as advanced and the importance of learning would be much less. Charlemagne took something he loved, and built on it to create a way to progress his empire, and later the world.
