Britain attempted to restructure its colonial empire from 1688 to 1763 by getting a better administration. The Board of Trade replaced the Old Lords of Trade, which helped control the trading within England. England also started making machinery and making new things to trade such as copper and fur. This is when they started to strengthen their Army and war- making capacity. The years of the early 18th century were a period of “salutary neglect” because it was a time the King and Parliament tried to increase their control. The causes and important developments of the Seven Years War in North America are the desire of both Britain and France to control the fur trade. Also, the affray in the Ohio valley, between the French and part of Virginia. The consequences of the war for the various “winners” and “losers” are for the Winner which is Britain, there are no major consequences, although France did look for revenge. The Stamp Act politicized American colonists by having a direct tax on colonists which was the Stamp Act, it caused chaos in America and was the main cause of the American Revolution. The Tea Act precipitated the final plunge into revolution for the American colonies by being heavily taxed on tea, the Americans did not believe it was fair. A lot of Americans decided to protest and dressed as Native Americans and threw tea off a ship on the Boston Harbor. The Americans believed that the British were controlling everything, this was their way of rebelling against the British. The Tea Act was intended to stop tea smuggling into the colonies.
