Influences on Blessed Seelos
Influence---the effect of something on a person, thing, or event. There are probably many things that happened which influenced Blessed Seelos’ conduct as an adult, but this essay will only talk about three. The first paragraph will look at how the way he was taught might have influenced him. In the second paragraph one finds out how his father being a sacristan might have influenced him. Finally it will be learned, how his home life influenced him.
As a child Blessed Seelos was sickly. His mother concerned that he might die young taught him as much as possible about the faith. Sometimes when the children were all together, their mother would read to them about a saint. Once, after their mother had read them a story about St. Francis Xavier, Blessed Seelos said, “I will be a Francis Xavier! (P.80)”. Both his mother and one of his sisters saw a future of priesthood. Blessed Seelos’ mother also taught her children prayers. The one prayer, she especially taught them was the Rosary. Because the Seelos family said the rosary often, Blessed Seelos as a priest would say it almost every day in an obscure manner, so …show more content…
This probably influenced Blessed Seelos as a priest to keep on going even if what he was doing was Incredibly hard. The other thing was that every night their father would read to them about the saint of the day. This too may have caused Blessed Seelos to imitate them as an adult.
