The reason why people go down in history as one of the greatest or one the worst and are remembered is because they influence everything around them. When a person is influential they impact other people around them and the world, in negative or positive ways. Bill gates is one of these influential people who changed people and the world around him for the better. Gates completely revolutionized technology and business, and today helps people who do not have the same opportunities as far as education, housing, and finances. Gates has founded one of the top multinational companies in the world, used his business savvy and strategies to gain his wealth, and used his wealth to help the less fortunate and reduce poverty which has made him have the influence on people he has today. …show more content…
His parents were Bill Gates Sr. and Mary Gates. When he was a baby it was said that he rocked himself asleep, which is a trait that he is known for as an adult, his independence. When Gates was in seventh grade he transferred to Lakeside School, which was an elite private institution. This is where Gates used his first computer, which was really a teletype machine connected by a telephone to a mainframe computer to a local office of General Electric. He spent many hours in the computer where he wrote his first software program only at the age of thirteen. Gates formed a bond at the school with a like- minded student Paul Allen. Gates and Allen, along with a few other students, formed a club called the Lakeside Programmers. They earned money by writing payroll and traffic data programs. The Lakeside programmers is really where Gates got jumpstart in the business and technology field. In 1973 Gates attended Harvard University, but in his second year there Allen visited him with important news that changed the rest of their lives
