Weeks passed and the leaves on the trees changed from a vibrant green to a crisp and fiery orange. Carlton traveled on-and-off while Audra learned the ways of the castle. She spent time in the kitchens with Petra and the other maids, and appreciated their hard work all the more. The women seemed much happier and relaxed with their new, reduced schedules, and Audra thought the food tasted better than ever.
Audra also continued with her training. Rather than wait for Carlton to provide her with new armor, she and Maxen rummaged through the old storage house on the castle grounds and pieced together leather armor that was comfortable and fit. It made a huge difference; it allowed Audra to focus on fighting as opposed to constantly adjusting ill-fitting
