During the Hellenic Era the Athens rose as one of the greatest mainland powers in Greece. As they rose they decided to change their government from monarchy to aristocracy. Little did the Athenian society know that one change would be a turning point for the west’s view on government from then on. The creation of the Council of Areopaugus was the starting point for this change the council was for elders of noble families exclusively to rule the Athens.
