How Did Athena Influence Greek Culture

Greek traditions and beliefs still have a huge impact on our civilization in many ways, whether it be from architecture or from the stories written about their gods in that time period, it is obvious that they still impact us. Many of the gods and goddesses in that time period helped structure some beliefs that we still hold dear to us to this very day. One very important goddess from their beliefs is Athena. She is known as for representing many different qualities that the people in her cult aspired to have or already encompassed. She inspired people to learn and to strategies their plans for war. Athena still affects civilization and the people within it because she was such a strong female role model and in this day and age, we value strong-willed females. She is known as representing sophistication and procedure of war. According to greek mythology, Zeus swallowed his first wife, Metis, who at the time was pregnant with Athena. Soon after swallowing them, Zeus started having massive head pains, and asked his son, Hephaestus, to strike his head with an axe. After doing this, Athena sprang from the head of Zeus, showing that she would be intelligent. She emerged from her father's head in full armor, also showing she was war-like. Athena was also known in her mythology, for being attributed to inventing an early form of the flute and for being a fantastic weaver, bringing the culture into the mythology.
