Andy Warhol was a successful ad and magazine illustrator who became a leading artist of the pop art movement in the 1960’s. Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was always a very quiet and people thought of him as an introvert. Throughout his lifetime, he went into a wide variety of performing arts, including filmmaking, video installation, and writing. He also controversially blurred the lines between fine art and mainstream aesthetics. Andy Warhol died at the age of 58 in February 1987.
