How Did Abraham Loncoln Impact The World

One of America’s most famous presidents, Abraham LIncoln, has impacted the USA in numerous great ways. Although he wasn’t always United States’ president. He went down a long road to becoming it. The work he did, giving powerful speeches, and choosing to do things that have altered America which made it how it is today. Abraham Lincoln was not only a stupendous president but a wonderful person in America’s history.

Abraham was born in the year 1809 on February 12 in Hodgenville, KY located in Hardin County. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln and he had two siblings, his older sister Sarah and a baby brother named Thomas but he sadly died as an infant. Abraham’s family did not stay in the Kentucky log cabin long because of a land dispute. His family moved to Perry County, Indiana in 18717 when Abe was still a boy. Soon his mother tragically died at the age 34 of tremetol (milk sickness) which hurt Abraham. When his father remarried to Sarah Bush Johnston who had three children of her own,

He chose not to go for another term for this reason and instead went on to practice law like he was doing beforehand. At this point his love life had recovered and he married Mary Todd in 1842. Together the couple had four children, which of only one boy, Robert, lived on to his adult years. 1858 was the year that he ran against Stephen A. Douglas for senator and lost. Although he lost he gained popularity and was able to become president in the election of 1860. He was a Republican but the northern Democrats accepted him as a leader. As president he made his cabinet up of people who he didn’t agree with or like much which helped give him different views on the nation. This aided him in his decision making on how he wanted to handle the problems of southern states
