Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809 in Kentucky ("America's Story from America's Library"). He lived many places growing up. On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was killed ("Lincoln's Great Depression"). He was assassinated by an actor, John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C ("Lincoln's Great Depression"). Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Lincoln, were watching a play when John Wilkes Booth came behind Lincoln and shot him at the back of his head near his left ear. Mary Lincoln screamed, catching the attention of a doctor in the audience who rushed to Abraham Lincoln ("Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination"). When John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln, he jumped from where they were onto the stage. From doing this, Booth broke one of his legs. According to History.com, John Wilkes Booth shouted “‘Sic semper tyrannis!’ (‘Thus ever to tyrants!’–the Virginia state motto)” when he jumped onto the stage. He got off the stage and escaped on horseback ("Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination"). The audience assumed that this was apart of the production, but when Mary Lincoln screamed they realized what had happened ("Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination").
