Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States and he tells us to go beyond our borders and discover new things. He is a historical figure in the world we know today and he wanted the world to be great and slaves to be free. He is important because he shaped our world into something great that will be led on through the future. He will make us think that our imagination is big and that it will help us go forward. He will inspire many people through the ages to do great things and make a difference.

Sadly all of these things would come to an end too soon for Lincoln by an actor named John Wilkes Booth (who lincoln admired) on April 15, 1865 at Ford’s theatre (lincoln life). “Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated. An unsuccessful attempt had been made on Andrew Jackson thirty years before in 1835 (Life’s and Works of Abraham Lincoln).” “Lincoln was shot while watching the play, Our American Cousin with his wife Mary Todd Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He died the following day at 7:22 am on the white house bed (Assassination of Lincoln).” His wife sat by him all night and when he died she was utterly devastated. Before Abraham Lincoln lost his life at Ford’s theatre, he led a great life. He married Mary Todd Lincoln and had four boys, only one of them living to the age of maturity. The other three sons sadly died of disease including pneumonia,Typhoid fever and Thyroid Cancer. Their names were William, Edward and Todd. Abraham Lincoln played with them while he was in office, whenever he had free time. He cared about them very much and was devastated when they
