To continue, Abraham Lincoln’s choice caused many issues around the nation, hugely affecting freed slaves’ lives. Like before, Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, he caused all the freed slaves to live in poverty. However, because they had nowhere to live afterward, they had to plead to their former slave owner for a place to stay. Even though slavery should’ve been abolished, it still caused freed slaves misery. The whites created laws known as the black codes, which gives blacks certain laws they had to follow, or they go to jail. This whole process was complete pandemonium for the slaves because, after they were saved from slaving away day and night, they are now poor, starving, and under new laws for their culture and race.
