I learned many things with the vignette we did in class. Active listening is important be-cause it helped Debby see that I was listening and just focusing on her. Also, it gave me the op-portunity to clarify any misunderstanding. The assessment helped me to think critically and find out the reason why Debby came to therapy. When I was watching the video, I was impressed how easily Debby and I build a bond. I had the same name …show more content…
It seem that Debby had a health problem because the why she behaved in the session. Also, I wanted to know if she had more children besides Jaime because that would have made a difference in the session. How was Debby’s relationship with her daughter Jaime before this incident? Lastly, I wish I had a way to communicate with Jaime and see if she was willing to join the therapy ses-sion.
Feelings
Many feelings came while I was with the client in the therapy session. I was going through the confusion. The reason is because I did not know the client’s case before hand and I had to limit myself from giving advice in the first session. I was feeling triggered by how con-troller Debby was getting at the end of the session. Debby started to be demanding and I was feeling exhausted. Furthermore, I was feeling nervous while I was giving some treatment to Debby. I did not want to provide wrong information or insult Debby.

I came to Debby’s level and it felt we were interacting smoothly. I was able to interpreted Debby’s behavior and ana-lyzed it the knowledge I have been gaining from the books. Debby was from another ethnicity and I adjusted to her behavior, so there will not be a misunderstanding. I got better at asking open-ended questions than close questions and reframe without putting inaccurate information.

When I saw the video tape of the triad, I was admired by how well each member role played. I was able to maintain eye contact with Debby at all times. Making eye contact with Debby was important because that make her know I was paying attention. Debby and I smile a lot and it was another way of saying, “I understand what you are saying.” Also, I was impress on how Debby cried every time she talked about being alone. We both developed congruent body behavior which was nodding our heads.
Trust
The source of trust was built when Debby heard my name. She was happy to know that I had the same name as her daughter. I emphasize with Debby on how she felt forgotten and lone-ly. I reframe that her daughter, first husband, second husband, Debby’s sister, and the dog went away. I emphasize with Debby by why where the reason she felt abandoned by everyone. Also, I got Debby’s trust because I was a female and she felt there no boundaries between
