How Daycare Changed My Life

Improved Essays
I am eighteen and still go to daycare. For 26 years my mom has owned and operated a home daycare. Living in a daycare is like being a part of a circus. There is always activity, noise, and, most definitely, entertainment. Kids are running everywhere, touching all of my things, interfering with my personal space with their little grimy hands, and eating all of my food. Growing up in this frenetic environment has taught me more about life than any high school club I could have joined. My life in daycare has prepared me for success in college.

I remember an incident when I yelled at a child at for playing with my favorite cabbage patch doll . Then I got yelled at by my mom for not sharing. She gave me the speech on how sharing is good and we have to share our toys because we couldn’t afford any more. Getting along with people gets you through life. You’re going to have people that bother you all the time. Learning how to deal with people without getting hostile is key. I have found that lesson to be true from high school experiences and jobs that I have had in the past. Daycare has also taught me to have compassion for people. I can’t count all the times that my mom let some of the kids stay the night, week or year because of their situation. We had two daycare kids in particular , their mother has had cancer off and on for about 4 years now. They have spent three of those years with us. We just call them our brother and sister now. I remember one time when one of the kids was feeling sick and I stayed up with him all night trying to make him feel better with laughter. I have seen that loving and helping people is the best thing for them while they’re in

Daycare When running a daycare for children two-years-old and under, many considerations must be made in order to provide the appropriate experiences to help promote their biological, cognitive and psychosocial development. One of my primary goals would be to maintain a group of staff members that I have ensured are reliable, extremely trustworthy and planned on working for me for at least a year or two. Observation: The YMCA daycare program is very different from Hope. I went back and forth between the two classrooms with children from ages 2 to 4 and I even spent a bit of time in the infant room. I learned more about the different temperaments of the children and how to address them. In addition, I also saw how children three to four years of age did not know how to say what they wanted so they would hit and throw things. I would have to say the biggest thing that I learned today was figuring how to get a positive behavior and not to reinforce a negative behavior.…

Whereas the private confines of the home can be rampant with emotional and physical abuse, the daycare centers provide a formal organization that counteracts forms of abuse.
