Community Service is beneficial for many different reasons and in many different ways. Integrating this class into a college course would not only help students educationally but also help them to grow as an individual. I strongly feel as you make your way into selecting your career path, this mandatory course will prepare students for what to expect when dealing with others. The amount of diversity the students will come in contact with can persuade them into making career choices as they best see fits. An additional college course thats holds a credit value will allow students to experience something new, achieve their degrees and being able to contribute to society in a different way.

Engaging in this event can allow students to expose themselves in different cultures or lifestyles they may come in contact with. “Additionally, differences in relationships of variable groups to having performed community service, required or not, would suggest different kinds of supports for performing voluntary community services”. Along with volunteering and helping those in need, community service can also benefit the area in which we live It can provide students with a sense of compassion and sympathy for others as well as making them understand that problems don’t just occur on the other side of the world, bu in their own towns as

Community service is not as bad as some people make it out to be. I myself had an internal groan when I heard that community service was required and would be set as a grade. I had only known volunteerism as doing a dull boring task with no discernible reward. But after experiencing it for myself I found it quite the contrary. Volunteering is a way to meet new people and witness a group working toward a greater cause.…

Through these three service learning opportunities, Into the Streets, Mary Treglia Community House, and Presidential campaigns; I have learned how they impact our communities, the concepts of citizens, and my weaknesses and strengths when it comes to participating. In Serve or Fail, the author, Dave Eggers, brings up the point that community service should be required in colleges. According to Eggers, “college is too long-it should be three years-and even with a full course load and part-time jobs there are many hours in the days and weeks that need killing.” He believes that with all of the free time that students have, they should do something productive and helpful like community service. Additionally, Eggers thinks that if colleges were to require community service, then it would not only improve their working environment, but it would also touch and improve each student. I would agree with Eggers because I have found out that when colleges require community service, it increase their students’ self-efficiency, boost their teamworking skills, and helps them find a sense of responsibility.…

Community service is way that people can build character and make the lives of people around them better. When you are volunteer your mindset changes from what can I do for myself to how can I help others around me. Community service means to help out those who are in need. To give some of your own time to be able to assist those who are less fortunate. During the Special Olympics I went with my AFJROTC group to volunteer our time to help out with the event. We helped out to run the games and make sure everything ran smooth for the participants. It was an enjoyable event but what really made it worthwhile was to see all of the kids being so excited to be able to compete in the event.…

Many of the organizations that I am involved in, including FFA, 4-H, and LYO, take part in several service projects throughout the year. As a result, I have been involved in multiple community service activities over the course of my high school career, such as taking a week-long mission trip to Nashville, Tennessee this past summer, or just spending an evening during the holiday season Christmas caroling around town. Although some people aren't always willing to give up their time to help others, I believe that an essential aspect of being a member of a community is being willing and able to devote your time to helping others. It helps you develop positive relationships, and it lets the people you're helping know that there are places they can turn to for support. It helps you build up your responsibility, reliability, and work ethic, and it provides community members with a chance to establish lasting connections with one another.…

I have many examples of the benefits for attending a community college that I do not believe could be reached while attending a four year college at a freshman for sophomore level. From my introduction into the honors curriculum, becoming a student leader with Service Learning’s Into the Streets program and individualized care from the Disability Resources and Services Department, leading to PHI THETA KAPPA (PTK) and my Honors-In-Action officer position; I have never before witnessed a group of mentors, employing the passion to individually reach out to each student in order to help him or her succeed. For instance, my art history professor explained that because I was receiving an “A” in her class, I should research the Honor’s Achievement…

We spent a whole day at my school doing simple tasks such as garden cleaning, moving old furniture, covering graffiti, repainting old walls and stairwells. I realized that helping out with the simplest and smallest tasks can make a drastic difference in society. I do not agree with this policy. Students that are going through high school have to work hard enough already. They should not have to worry about community service to graduate. We have other people who can do the community service besides high school kid's.…
