The digestion and absorptions of lipids requires bile. Bile is a greenish yellow substance with salt that the liver makes. The liver adds pigment to the bile from the dead blood cells that the liver breaks down .The salt in the bile act like an emulsifier, a substance needed to aid in making a lipid soluble in a watery environment, that help in the digestion and gaining of lipids. After the bile is made in the liver, it is transferred into the gall bladder where it is stored. Bile also helps in the process of breaking down of red blood cells that do not function correctly anymore. The production of bile is needed so that the fats that are eaten can be absorbed and used in the body, and for many other reasons. In the end, the liver has many different jobs that affect humans’ daily life and without it we would be dead.
