How Children's Business Fair Changed My Life

Improved Essays
The Children's Business Fair was a concept created around our kitchen table. The idea was to create a place where children could sell a unique product. It's like a farmer's market for kids.

Although it's a simple concept, the Children's Business Fair changed my life in a profound way. I unlocked a spirit of entrepreneurship there that is the center of many of the things I do today.

I'm not the only one who has had a life-changing experience at the Children's Business Fair.

Mikaila attended her first Children's Business Fair when she was only four. She wore a puffy bumblebee costume and pitched her product to passers by.

Declining bee populations was a problem that struck close to Mikaila's heart, so she decided to do something about it.

Michael Heile Nelson 3 English 11 Honors April 29 2016 Honeybee Population Crisis Bees are very crucial to our society. They pollinate over $14 billion worth of crops each year (Ballaro and Warhol). With that amount of money you could buy almost 15 new Viking stadiums each year. They are so valuable to our society and if the bee population goes down, the human population will soon follow. Although many people are unaware of the shrinking bee population, scientific evidence has proven it to be a major problem.…

“Freakanomics” by Steven D. Levitt fascinated me to how businesses play a part in every aspect of life, even drug dealing. Levitt compared a gang’s organizational chart to a McDonald’s version and it was quite similar, the gang even had a board of directors. “Freakanomics” showed how businesses play the market to their advantage, similar to how “Listerine did not make mouthwash as much as it made halitosis.” I am fascinated by how business can shape the world; I believe it is more than just academic understanding, it is integral to have leadership, good time management, creativity and motivation to be an effective business person. I have all these qualities and would love to improve upon these at university whilst studying business.…

A time that I have ever taken a leadership role was when I was a junior staff at Kid’s Clubhouse when I was 14. We had taken the kids to the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC because the place we were going to go had been closed down. It was organized chaos and the kids were wanting to run around the place but we had to remember that everyone was suppose to be back at the bus by 3:30 pm. The time went by and and my partner lost track of time so I had to stand up and tell her that we had to go so that we would not get yelled at.…

Bees and wasps are one of the common insects; they are common in their color yellow and black stripes; they are buzzing around the people, and if you are not lucky enough they will sting you, and you will not like being stung with a bee. Based on my experience, a wasp stung my ear, so my ear was swollen and I was suffering for a week with swollen ear; I felt like I was an elephant or an elf. After that I started to hate bees and wasps. I registered in the Linc Home Study to improve my communication skills and during my class I watched an article about the bee and the title is “To Bee or Not To Bee “. I believe that my work during the First Lego League event has been extraordinary, this is because I’ve been a part of the whole process, not only the robot part which was what I was assigned to. I learned a lot of new things about the orca and the whales in-general. Obviously there are things that could have been done differently during and before the event, such as our time schedule, and the amount of time we got to work with First Lego League,. As I found the time we got, was really short especially for the group assigned to programming the robot. There are also stuff that I wish we could change before leaving to Bodø for our Scandinavian final, such as giving us more time to work with it, as there are a lot of things that could be improved…

In the recent years, bee keepers have reported they’re losing an average of 30% of allhoneybee colonies each winter. This is an important issue because we rely on bees to pollinate71 of the 100 crops that provide the most of the world’s food. Scientist have pointed to a numberof causes which includes, global warming, habitat loss, parasites and insecticides. In my finalpaper I’m going to explain why the loss of bees is so significant, what the causes are for thedecrease in bees, and what we can do about…

The question it answered was why they are dying so quickly? Now there is no definitive answers but there are plenty of theories and many that are held in high regards by scientists (Hagopian). But out of these said theories some are more feasible and provided better insight to this problem. The most important thing to know about this whole ordeal is a disease called Colony Collapse Disorder or (CCD). This is when a mass amount of bees in a colony is wiped out and all out die within a day or so (Bale).…
