The article starts off by describing the increase in cell phone ownership among children: “77% of US 11-17 year olds 57.7% of Swedish 7-14-year olds and 50% of UK 5-15-year olds [now] have a mobile device” (Turley, Baker, and Lewis 208-209). From this introduction the article then follows a chronological scheme in which the authors provide theories, supported by research, for their study which sampled a group of children, in regards to sending/receiving text messages and the emotional impact that occurs.
