Have you ever wondered why cats dislike rodents so much?The stories "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac" and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” explain why cats and rodents dislike each other. This essay will be talking about the similarities and differences between the two stories. First this essay will compare the stories "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac" and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies”. In both of the stories "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac" and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” the Cat and the rodent start as good friends. Another similarity is that in both stories the cat comes in contact with water. The cat coming into contact with water in both stories is important because cats do not like water and if the cat has to come into contact with because of the rodent that will make him really mad. The last thing "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” is that it was the rodents selfish behaviour that causes the cat to dislike him. The rodent being the one who causes the problem would explain why cats typically attack rodents, but rodents do not typically attack the cats. One way the stories are different is that in "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” the rodents selfishness effects more that one character, but in the story “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” the rodents selfishness effects only the cat. I think another important difference is in the story “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” the rodent doesn't do anything bad on purpose, but in the story "Cat and Rat-Legend of the Chinese Zodiac" the rat does something bad on purpose.
