CO affects the body as a result of a particle of CO simply binding to the oxygen in the blood (Walker, 2011). As a result, oxygen becomes unable to be transported to the body (Walker, 2011). Poisoning from CO is actually being suffocated from within (Walker, 2011). Also, the poisoning from CO continues to increase over time (Walker, 2011).
