How Can Violent Video Games Be Beneficial

Violent Games can be Beneficial Children's imagination are built from all different kinds of games, even ones like Counter Strike and/or Call of Duty. From race car video games to violent video games, these games create children's personalities and improve working with each other. Even violent ones can benefit children in many different ways. Role playing games with simulated violence are actually diverting. Even though these games do promote violence, it teaches kids how to use self defense when needed. When playing a game that includes violent actions, it shows children how to use self defense in life threatening situations. According to the Washington post, “Some scholars, humanitarian groups and even military officials say video and computer game makers can answer a “call of duty” to incorporate international rules of warfare and human rights into their battlefield scenarios.”(Soch 1). This quote shows a few scholars and military officials hoping that gamers that play violent games can put their strategies they have learned from playing into real life situations like war or humanitarian crises. When a team works together, they understand each other's weaknesses and strengths and know how to cooperate with one another. The National Post proves that gamers do cooperate with each other proven by Canadian researchers.“Canadian researchers, whose earlier work challenged assumptions about violent video games’ links to aggression, have come out with a new study that suggests when people from different social groups cooperate in a video game — even a super violent one — their impressions of one another improve and prejudices diminish.”( Quan 1).
