Pigments from dark-colored drinks can become embedded in the enamel of your teeth. Tea has a high tannin content causing it to stain your teeth. Coffee is known for staining teeth because of its dark color. Chromogens in soda stain your teeth. Which one of these drinks causes more distortion in the color of your teeth? Adding crème, milk or other light pigmented substances to your tea or coffee won’t change the effect it has on your teeth. Extrinsic staining is the type of staining that this project will focus on. This staining is when the outside of your teeth gets discolored from the drinks and food you drink and eat throughout your life.
