Have you ever been hypnotized? maybe you’re in a state of hypnosis now. Have you ever tried convincing millions of citizens to overthrow their government in the name of freedom because of a tyrannical government? Maybe not, Hypnosis and overthrowing a tyrannical government are the main plots for the movies Trance and V for vendetta. In summary, the movie, Trance, Simon who is an art auctioneer and a gambling addict gets into a bit trouble because of his gambling addiction. Simon now must steal a very expensive painting to repay a debt, but in the process, is hit in the head, causing him to forget where he had left the painting. In hopes of finding the painting he uncannily hires a hypnotherapist named Elizabeth, who helps Simon recover the painting by hypnotizing him into remembering much more than he wanted to. …show more content…

Perhaps, yes, in V for Vendetta, V displays how words can captivate the masses minds, in V’s affirmation through a live broadcast to the nation, he says, “words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth” (V). In this statement V, draws the people’s attention and are asked to ask themselves about whether their government is legitimately after the people’s best interests, which eventually Evey and the people realize that they’re not. Similarly, in the movie Trance, Elizabeth displays her powerful ability of control over Simon through her expertise and knowledge of hypnosis. Elizabeth puts Simon in a Trance and is able to make Simon put his job and life at risk by stealing a painting. Not only is she in control of the whole situation through the film, but also had control over frank and his gang through hypnosis and manipulation.
