Among the difficulties of being who they truly are, the stereotypes could cause emotional, physical, and mental problems. Some straight people judge those who are gay by classifying their union in marriage as “same-sex marriage.” They prefer it to be called marriage, just like a straight couple’s union. It causes pain and offense to gays that want to marry. When their marriage is labeled as this, it discourages those who are gay and wish to marry because if their marriage is branded as that, then they don’t want to get married with a feeling that they will be distinguished. Those who are married don’t really see the impact that being married has on them. Gay people want this right because they wish to be able to share an unbreakable bond. Marriage can be viewed as a privilege to be happy with your loved one until death. If marriage is equal to gay couples then it would give them that right. Without being married, gay couples lack what all heterosexual couples receive when tying the knot, like benefits in the case of a spouse’s death. Without granting these rights to gay people, their marriage will still be unjust and unconstitutional. The marriage is in fact viewed as unholy or an abomination in most churches throughout America, especially Catholic Churches. The Catholic Church does not believe in gay marriage and never will. They say it deserves recognition but it is still a sin in the bible. This a huge contradiction. Some church goers’ believe that gay people will be sent to hell for liking the same sex, or even burst into flames if they enter a holy facility (“The Catholic Church, Homosexuality and Gay Marriage."). I, myself, am catholic and although I don’t attend church all the time because of my busy schedule, I have yet to burst into flames when I enter my church. There are far worse crimes than being gay or wanting to marry someone of the same-sex. I know for a fact that under the Ten Commandments, it mentions murder, but nothing about gay marriage. Catholics’ can eventually forgive murders’ for their crimes, and yet they seem to condemn gay people with an afterlife of fiery flames in Hell.
