Society today thinks that college is the only way to be prosperous because in schools they teach you that it is the only path to take after high school. As a matter of fact, college is not needed to be successful: “not every young person is suited for four years of college… they won’t get much out of it” (Reich 84). Students are constantly taught all throughout school that college is the only way to go, they feel pressured to go. Take Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple as an example, he dropped out of college and was still very flourished in life; with a net worth of $11 million. Say that someone wanted to attend Harvard Law School, that alone is about $100,000 each year for three years, let’s not mention the cost of a bachelor’s degree you have to earn before law school. That could be racking up a pretty hefty bill: “even if they get the degree, they’re stuck with a huge bill - and may be paying down their student debt for years” (Reich 84). Although it depends on the career path you take, students could end up with a six-figure student loan debt (Bond). Most of the time the jobs you land after graduating if you land one doesn’t even pay enough to make the degree worth it (Reich
