How Can Adversity Shape A Person's Character

The moment a child's finger touches the orange flame of fire, they quickly swift their finger back and do not do the same mistake again; this child learns through an adversity, a misfortune. Roman poet Horace quotes, "Adversity has the effect..." meaning adversity can shape a person's character. Adversity can teach a person lessons through various hardships; this can help or destroy who you are. Studies state that a child's character develops through his/her environment. Personally, growing up in a neighborhood full of violence and poverty, it has become an adversity. Hardships, danger, and misfortune can also influence one's character towards something positive. And just like the child who touched fire, I do not plan to do the same. Currently enrolled in an AP Macroeconomics class has developed an enthusiasm for rehabilitative sciences in me. The things being told to me by my economics teacher is fascinating to me and motivated me to try and gain more knowledge about what they were telling me. An encomium delivered by a successor commoves me that there is an advantage in overcoming my adversity. I have recently made many sacrifices, both socially and athletically so that I can improve my grades in other subjects in an attempt to gain entrance to a recognized university. The other courses I have selected this year, such as AP Microeconomics and Discrete Math, will help to prepare me for my future studies. I plan to major in Business and overcome the adversities that will come along the way. Adversity helps tie all aspects in life. Personally, hardships like this help increase my level of motivation that plays a role in the decisions I make to this day.
