I climbed on the sink and retrieved the Neosporin and band aids from the medicine cabinet. I wasn’t sure how this works, but I assumed if I didn’t take care of it, that the lizard might be in pain when it grows back. After I played doctor, I went to my room and carefully placed the tail in a jar and put it in the top drawer of my dresser. I was unaware of how long it’d take to grow, but I figured by morning it would be as good as new. Later that day, my mom stumbled upon the jar while putting away my clothes. She didn’t seem angry when she asked me about it, but she acted disgusted by it and was trying to throw it in the trash. This was not the reaction I was expecting, I mean, why would my mom throw a lizard in the trash?! I pleaded with her “mom, I’m sorry that I hurt it, but I put medicine and a band aid on it until the lizard grows, please don’t take him away from me”! After staring at me blankly for a few seconds, the realization must have sat in, because she immediately changed the way she was talking to me. We had a serious talk about how fragile lizards are and how I needed to be more careful next time.
