Beowulf Many people don't understand how heroic some people are by their actions. A hero is someone who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements and noble qualities. After reading Beowulf, there were many qualities that showed me he was a hero. In the story, Beowulf enters into battle many different times, putting his life on the line each time. Beowulf went through many courageous acts during the story. From these actions he showed us that he was selfless, brave and a risk taker. Beowulf is a King of the geats, who has ruled for 50 years. Over the course of these 50 years, Beowulf has faced countless numbers of challenges, and has succeeded at each. When beowulf chopped off her head he was able to carry it to the ocean with no difficulties. While it took 4 people to carry it back to heorot. This shows us beowulf's great strength and that he is able to handle anything. Beowulf shows us his strength in the story when he defeated grendel, grendel's mother and the dragon. Showing us his strength because nobody else was able to do this. In the story Beowulf says “ I will rid Heorot of Grendel using only my bare hands. 'I hereby renounce sword and the shelter of the broad shield, the heavy war-board: hand-to-hand is how it will be, a life-and-death fight with the friend.' This is showing us beowulf's strength because he says he will fight with only his bare hands, showing his true natural strength.

Beowulf showed us many reasons as why he was a heroic person. Showed us his selflessness, bravery, risk taking and strength, which are all aspects of being a great hero. Beowulf emplified many reasons for being the hero in the story. Beowulf was always there for others and would do anything for them. This is a great example of a hero because he's not putting himself first but rather always thinking of others.
