First Home Run The pitcher steps on to the mound and is ready to pitch, and whoosh in comes a fastball and crack the way I hit the ball sounded like banging a hammer on a piece of metal and as I took off running I watched the ball sail out of the park for my first home run. As I rounded second base I could hear the voices of sister Larissa my mom Leeann and my dad John screaming for me and could feel a lot of excitement from the crowd. In this story I am going to tell you about when I hit my first home run and second home run and how doing such really amazing thing can humble you.. And one more thing I will talk about is the type of bat I was using and where you can buy that type of baseball equipment.…
July 22, 2012 was one of my favorite days of my life, it was the day we won the Gopher State Baseball Tournament. We got to take a coach bus up to target field and walk on the field with all the other age groups that also won. On the way up no one could sit still we were all exhilarated to be on a Major League Baseball field. But before we get to that, we should start at the beginning of the season and the state tournament. It was my first year of Royals baseball…
Baseball is an all American sport that takes its pride in its patriotism. At one time American baseball was the number one sport to watch and follow in the United States. It was just as popular as American Football is today. It was considered a gentlemen’s game that held a high reputation for gamesmanship and sportsmanship. Baseball had a very powerful influence on society.…
Baseball has and always will be a part of my life. Just like other activities, some seasons have been spectacular and others have been just average. But I have always had this certain drive in me to go through struggles and eventually come out on top among other competitors. Sophomore year was supposed to be my year, my year to be the starting catcher on the varsity baseball team at Mary Persons High School. The baseball coach even said that in his own words.…
I have played since I was a little girl, I know mostly everything about it. It's such a fun and active sport. I am on the same team as most of my friends, or some new people I have never met before. I have played since I was five but still play till this day. Softball if like really important to me, when I play it feels like I am a different person.…
There were quite of few memorable experiences I got to participate in this baseball season. I got to play in three different state tournaments. Our first state tournament (High School Season) we got first, the second one (Legion) we got eighth, and the third one (Teeners) we got third. My favorite one was High School state because we had a really good first game and won in 13 innings which was exciting.…
I loved baseball growing up and I found myself on multiple teams at a time. One of the Leagues I happened to be in was the Lafayette Little League. My brother and I played here for many years and umpired as well. When I was 12 years old, I was put on the Little League all-star team. Unlike the years before on the team, this year was special because we had an opportunity, which was very slim, to go the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.…
On December 7th, 1941, the attacks on Pearl Harbor drastically changed life in America. Many lives were lost and many aspects of life changed once the U.S. entered the war. Sports played a role in keeping a sense of normalcy, but the war changed them. Therefore, baseball was affected by the attacks as well. Over 500 MLB players left the diamond for the battlefield (Weintraub).…
Since third grade, I have continued to play soccer but, my sister moved out because she went to college. In 2008 many changes and exciting events were occurring to the United States, Barack Obama was elected president, the market crashed which caused the recession, and the US women’s soccer team won the 2008 summer Olympics. Although, many changes were occurring in 2008, it was the start of something that has remained in my life, my, love for soccer. I started playing traveling soccer because my church league soccer coach told me I needed to be playing at a higher level and I wanted to be better and play soccer in college.…
I have had the dream of playing professional baseball since I was old enough to swing a baseball bat. I remember watching the Texas Ranger play on Tv when I was young and I aspired to be like them one day. The odds are not in my favor to accomplish this goal. However, I know that if I keep working my hardest every single day that maybe one day I will be able to accomplish this goal.…
My high school baseball team had squeaked into its first playoff appearance in five years and we were set to play as the underdogs in the CIF playoffs against Ventura High School. After a hard fought game, we reached the top of the last inning and were down 1-0 with a man on second base and two outs. I proceeded to hit a double off the left field wall to tie the game. I had never achieved such an adrenaline rush in my entire life. That moment instantly became my favorite sports moment.…
Baseball has to be one of America’s best pastimes. There are only a hand full of sports that have originated in America, and with that said, baseball has to be one of the most beloved sports we have in today’s time. Baseball has affected young men, men of color, even women and along the way started some club and team rivals. There has been such a love for the sport since it came about. This sport really gives room for competition, family oriented events, and everything in between.…
Something we have not been able to bring to our school in three years to almost winning our regional’s that we were not even predicted to make it out of our district tournament. All in all it was the best season I had of high school baseball, I became close with all my teammates we went to battle together and we formed a “brotherhood” that to this day is still an amazing one I am still close with everyone on that team. I would do anything to go back and play another season with them. We Tried to achieve something that our school has not done in a long time and that was go to states and we fell just short.…
From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better. Growing up I used to see my friends come home from little league practice everyday on school days and that really used to make me mad. They used to get home when the street lights were on and we were not able to come outside and play at that time.…
Throughout my childhood I participated many different sports and gained lots of experience. I began participating in sports while in kindergarten, sports like basketball, soccer and tee-ball. These sports were great for me as a child because I loved playing them and they were good camaraderie with peers. I would go on to play these sports throughout middle school, with tee-ball turning into baseball. These three sports are some of the main options for children in America, and are certainly among the most popular options.…
