How Babysitting Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Between babysitting and my job at Toys R Us, I constantly find myself around children. As I’ve been told by teachers and band directors, I know I must act as an example so these kids strive for greatness. Rather than give into my inner demons and walk away from such opportunity, I give advice and direction to curious children who approach me. It’s a surreal moment when I tell children that although school isn’t the most pleasant or easy, it’s definitely worth all the stress and pain to be able to look back at end the school year and appreciate all of one’s accomplishments. One of the worst things to witness is someone losing faith in an activity they once set their life to. It was painful to watch another close friend of mine quit playing an instrument that she found a passion in, but I knew she was reaching for higher goals when she discovered a love for dance. It was also hard to watch both of my brothers quit piano in pursuit of alternative activities, but in recent times, I realized that in order to find out what one truly wants to do, there’s always a need for trial and error. I faced this issue when I was flipping between whether I wanted to pursue a career in music or medicine, but after much thought and judgement, I knew medicine was the right path for me. So with my experience and knowledge, I try my hardest to steer wandering souls toward a light that will lead them to success and greatness. With my positions of leadership and power, I have had the ability to reflect upon my own actions and know what I need to do to improve my performance academically and as a person in general. From these realizations, I hope to make improvements to myself and continue to help and give direction to my friends and to

The year was 2014. I was a senior in high school, already I had committed to go to Colorado Mesa University, I had a track scholarship and I was going to major in Geology, ultimately wanting to go into petroleum engineering. The only thing was, I didn’t want to. I did not want to go be a geologist, I wanted to travel, to see the world! As cliché as it may have been, I dropped out, I worked for a period of time and sent myself on a trip to Europe to “find myself”.…

I appreciate the fact that my achievements did not come from an easy work, but rather a persistent standing against…

On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 men would forever alter the history of our nation. As the tragic and horrid events played out I watched in agony as our beloved world trade center collapsed, the Pentagon burned and an unexplained plane crash in Shanks Ville Pa, took the lives of the innocent passenger on board. Like many who woke up on that ordinary morning the tragic occurrences would scorn a horrid picture of death and agony. This event would further subject the nation's heart into a state of hopelessness and shock and as September 11, unfolded America would usher in an era known as Post 9-11 I enlisted in the US ARMY in June 2004 and even though America was on a path towards recovery the campaign in Iraq endured and the war continued.…

The two most frequent responses I elicit from individuals who hear of my plans to pursue a career in medicine are either: “I can see why a medical career might be attractive, but you’ve got an excellent job, and do you really wish to jeopardize that?” or: “what is wrong with what you do now?”. My typical response to this is that they are right and that I do not want to jeopardize my job nor is there anything wrong with it.
