The author of the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas novel was written by Irish novelist John Boyne. The book is about a young boy named Bruno who lives in Germany in the year 1942. In the novel, Bruno moves from Berlin to Auschwitz. At Auschwitz, Bruno discovers another young boy named Shmuel. Shmuel is young Jew who has been imprisoned in the Auschwitz concentration camp. This essay will argue that Bruno and Shmuel are more alike than different. The reasons I will give on this are that they were both taken away from their homes, they both do not have any friends, and they are both well- educated.
The first thing that both Bruno and Shmuel have in common is that they were both taken away from their beloved homes. Bruno was taken from his magnificent 5-story house in Berlin and poor Shmuel was dragged kicking and screaming from his house in Poland. In chapter 1, Bruno left is mansion in Berlin and taken to a smaller 3-story house in Auschwitz and on page 62, Shmuel says that he is from a nicer place than Berlin and there is nice people there and nicer food. Bruno and Shmuel were taken away from their homes whether it was

Bruno has left behind his three best friends in Berlin; Karl, Daniel and Martin. Shmuel had to leave his friends in his old neighbourhood. Shmuel also doesn’t have many friends in the concentration camp. On Page 8, Bruno says, ‘Say goodbye to Karl and Daniel and Martin?’ to mother when she brings up that the family would be moving away. This refers to when Bruno was leaving Berlin and he wouldn’t see his three best friends again, or at least for a long time. On Page 60 for Shmuel he says that he doesn’t have any close friends. Shmuel is saying this because he doesn’t have any friends in the camp, he just knows the names. Both Bruno and Shmuel don’t have any friends and this is another example of how they are more alike than

The book, Night, by Elie Wiesel and the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, demonstrates two completely different perspectives towards the Holocaust. Night, a nonfiction memoir, depicted the life and feelings of a young boy who was forced to endure the harshness and depression of a life in a death camp. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, a heartbreaking movie, based on a fictional novel, shares the inimaginable friendship of a Nazi soldier's son, Bruno, with an imprisoned Jewish boy, Shmuel. Together, they risk their lives to save the young Jew's father. Both stories share the same main topic, the Holocaust during World War II.…

The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas is a fictional story of two unlikely friends between a German boy and Jewish prisoner where Boyne creates a story that leaves an unknown outcome. Boyne represents how little Bruno knows about Shmuel’s situation through the use of friendship and innocents he sets the tone for the readers. Boyne represents this in one of Bruno and Shmuel’s first conversations, “It’s so unfair. 1. In the film, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the concepts of person perception, cultural and personal identities and persuasive qualities are demonstrated through Bruno and Shmuel’s friendship. We can see person perception through the two boys because at their age to each other the other is just another boy their age that they can play with in a place where they are all alone. They have none of the prejudices or assumptions about each other that those older than them would have casted on each other. Cultural and personal identity is seen through Bruno wanting to be just like his father when he is pretending to be one of the German fighter planes with his friend.…
