How Added Sugar Affects The Food Industry

According to the American Heart Association an average American eats about 22 teaspoons of added sugar a day. Way more than the recommended 9 teaspoons for men and 6 teaspoons for women. Today scientists are connecting that high consumption of added sugar can lead to diseases such as cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s. This is not just natural sugar but the sugar the food industry pumps into our food that can cause these diseases. Sugar is made up of two molecules glucose and fructose, glucose being good for your body and fructose that can lead to health problems. According to scientists who have done research studies on how added sugar impacts the body. These studies have shown how the added sugar can lead to cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer. The most shocking thing is the food industry just doesn't believe these findings are enough. The food industry goes through a great deal to find the bliss point in their products. That's where a consultant comes in, records people's reaction to different versions of the product. Once the right combination of sugar, fat, and salt is found; it hit stores and bomb arise in sales. I find this a bit crazy, how all this work goes into adding fat and sugar to a product to make people want it. Earlier I mention how the food industry doesn't want to acknowledge that their products cause diseases, well I was wrong. Documents have been found that the food industry knows there is a link between processed food and diseases for years now. They know their products cause diseases, yet they sit back and do nothing. The health of their customers are on the line, and yet these companies are doing nothing to help the situation. If anything, they are making it worse, just add sugar and people will
