Technological devices like MRI scans and artificial arteries are now common uses among the doctor world, but they just surfaced the medical world in the 1980’s (Feinstein 55). Back in the 1980’s many devices were created like the artificial heart in 1982, synthetic skin in April 7, 1986, the MRI scanning, and DNA fingerprinting in March 6, 1985. Although procedures to get any of these therapies were very expensive and out of most peoples price range, these technological inventions became a big hit among the wealthy, people could finally get better. The artificial heart became the number one treatment, due to the fact that with the right artificial heart, a life could be saved. The first artificial heart required to be accompanied by an air compressor, and it was bulky but back then this was a significant invention (health care). The inventor, Paul Winchell, used his job as a ventriloquist to invent the artificial heart. He says that when he witnessed a patient die he though that an artificial heart could fix the problem, but he was told that since he was not a physician, that it was not possible and his idea was soon dismissed. People’s comments did not stop him though, he used his knowledge about the string attached to the puppets mouth and how that works to create an artificial heart, comparing the strings to the valves, and the heart to the puppet (med). Now many years’ later biologists have taken the very same technology and improved them tremendously, and have figured out exactly how to maneuver the devices without hurting the patients, which was a problem in the past. Now scientists have even started inventing 3-D bio printing, which is basically a 3-D printer for a human, instead of synthetic skin. Medical technology is more advanced and innovative today,
