Personal Narrative: Toby Harting

The decision I made to marry Toby Hartig was not a hard decision at all. As a child I always dreamed of becoming a wife then a mother. I wanted to be married to the same man and become life partners. As of today, I can say I have already become a happy wife to the man of my dreams and the mother to his son and we are enjoying out path through life as a family. Over the last year of our six year relationship we had a wonderful experience that changed us to Mr. and Mrs. Hartig; parents to Mr. Koby Hartig. Toby and I started planning our wedding after a wonderful date night where Toby proposed. It was a magical night. I didn’t not except the proposal at all. We were enjoying dinner at La Masa Mexican Grill, when Toby popped the question with …show more content…
Toby said, “I want to be your husband before the father of your child and not just your ‘baby daddy.” I did not disagree, I too felt the same in return I wanted a true family. I wanted a family with Toby from the moment I fell in love. Toby called his father and asked him for a huge favor behind my back, shortly after our conversation. Toby asked his father if he would help him move our wedding date up a whole year. Toby told his father, “I want to give Paige the wedding of her dreams before she gives birth to our son. I love her more than anything in this world and I want to be the husband she deserves before I am the father to her son.” Up until this assignment, I did not know this conversation between my husband and his father happened. On June 26th, 2015 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, at Krug Park at five o’clock, I, Paige Carr, became Paige Hartig. The night was wonderful, everything I dreamed it would be. Toby and his father had the whole wedding set up with everything I worked so hard to get and had it set up exactly how I had imagined. With the help of his family we was able to surprise me with the wedding of my dreams. At our reception, Toby and I announced to our families that not only were we bring two families together as one, but we also had a new addition to our family, Mr. Koby Haze Hartig. With lots of love and support from both families we celebrated the wonderful news and magnificent day. I will never forget the day I became Paige Hartig, wife to Toby Hartig, mother to Koby

It can be said that, when we ask others intimate questions about ourselves, we gain a perspective we have not previously explored. This is an interesting concept, especially when we decide to interview those people with whom we are close. First, I interviewed my long-term boyfriend Jeremy Salter. He gave several answers that shocked me; I disagreed with some, reluctantly accepted others, and yet learned the most with his answers. Next, I interviewed my coworker and closest friend, albeit of only a short period of time, Ashlee Jenkins.…
