For the past 94 years, the Houston Zoo has become one of the top attraction in the Houston area. The Houston Zoo opened in September of 1922 and was made up of a small fence with a limited collection of animals. The zoo began charging $2.50 for admission in 1989, and now charges $17.00. This displays the tremendous amount of growth the Houston Zoo has undergone. They now house over 6,000 animals and 900 different species.
