Not only was the pothole huge, but I could not abstain from going over them because the whole street was covered with holes. The pothole issue as became a prevailing issue in the southwest side of Houston that needs to be addressed. On top of what you already pay for taxes, the study found our roadways cost Houstonians an additional $1,850 a year (Freeman). The price of traffic crashes averages out to around $310 a driver (Freeman). Potholes have an even greater effect on drivers in small vehicles or motorcycles. The slightest dip in the road could cause the driver to lose control and have an accident (Causes of motorcycle crashes).

The stress caused upon Houston drivers is perpetuating as well as the amount of time spent in traffic. The many potholes in the streets of Houston cause vehicles to reduce speed which eventually catches up to others and create traffic amongst the many vehicles in Houston. When a vehicle goes through a deep pothole it can possibly have the same effect as a car accident at about 30 mph (The Law Office of James R. Moyles). As the number of potholes and their size increase we are at more risk of damage to vehicles on the road and to ourselves. Los Angeles has the reputation of having the worst traffic in the world, and of course, everyone would spend more time tapping brakes on freeways if it was Thanksgiving. The picture of the jammed 405 Freeway depicts the Thanksgiving rush in Los Angeles well, and people make fun by saying that the freeway 405 has the name because “it takes you '4 o' 5' hours to get anywhere.” () Driving on Freeway 405 is infuriating not only because drivers have to drive slowly, but also because when everyone wanted to get back home as soon as possible, some people would change lanes, and lead to car accidents. In addition, since families want everyone to be back home around dinner time, they can get mad at a member who arrives late and claims that he or she could leave from work earlier. Yes, having to drive slowly is annoying, but what really touches people’s nerves is that people act upon their interests without trying to understand each other.…

This is because asphalt is designed in a way that allows it to be a bit more flexible, which means that it will flex when it experiences stress rather than cracking like concrete does. For example, if you drop a heavy item onto a concrete driveway, there is a much higher chance that the concrete will crack because it is a very rigid surface whereas that same item may very well not affect the asphalt at all. In addition, asphalt is better able to deal with the stress that winter can put on your driveway. In many cases, one of the most dangerous times for your…

As was said before the price of a ticket gets higher when you speed in school zones or in construction zones, this is because the driver that is speeding put lives in more danger than usual. Think that if that driver that was speeding was not paying attention and a child or one of the construction worker were to cross the road the driver would likely have more of a chance of hitting the pedestrian. When a driver is speeding the time it takes to brake/stop is delayed, so in the example where the driver was speeding and didn't see the people crossing the road he would have likely hit them but if the driver were to be going the speeding and respecting the law the driver likely would have had more time to stop and notice the pedestrians and lives would be saved. Speed limits are not just there to protect pedestrians but also to protect the driver, it is proven to be easier to lose control of a vehicle at a higher speed. So if the driver were to be speeding and hit a pot whole or swerve off the road he/she would likely get into an accident.…
