Houston Park Research Paper

On October 25th I visited a park called Discovery Green for the first time. The park is located downtown in the heart of Houston at 1500 McKinney St. This earth-rooted venue is has lots of space for you to enjoy yourself and is surrounded by lots of big trees. This looks like a fantastic park for families or parents that want to find fun activities for their children. The very unique park has art structure that represents Houston and interesting paintings, in which it gives a nice background for photos. There’s a playground and next to it is a long bridge structure with some hanging bars for the kids. Great place to escape and relax in the winter or when cool outside because the large space in the middle of the park has barely any trees. Since there is no coverage in the middle, you would have to sit near a tree or at a table with a patio umbrella for shade if the sun is out and it’s hot. I visited the site and it stated that there mission was, “To provide an uncommonly beautiful, urban green space in the heart of Houston that serves as a village green for our city, a source of health and happiness for our citizens, and a window into the incredible diversity of talents and traditions that enrich life in Houston.” (Discovery green) That is exactly what this park has provided and that is what I witnessed at the park today. “Even with all the activity onsite, it has a safe, community feeling, and is a comfortable setting for families, couples, school children, professionals—or anyone else who wants to find a relaxing green space without having to leave downtown.” (Summers) The park does feel very safe and this is a venue I would love to bring my family on the weekends were we can enjoy
