Disappointment flooded through me when I realized that 2 hours of driving through traffic was all for nothing. The air around us was thick and muggy as we set up camp. My family wanted a weekend away from the hot city temperatures of Houston to go to the slightly cooler, breezy forest only to be met with a cruel surprise. The flies were thick, and mosquitoes swarmed all around. My younger brother pressured us into starting a campfire, but the thought of flame and smoke was sickening. I longed for some air conditioning, and a cool shower. The next morning, I rolled over in bed to the smell of my mom’s homemade, over the fire biscuits and gravy.
