The evidence is probably sufficient to conclude the pool house is a dwelling because its use and structure support the theory that it is an extension of the living quarters. The State will likely be able to prove the Hernandezes’ pool house constitutes a dwelling because the facts support that its construction resembles that of the main dwelling and that it is frequently used for similar purposes as the living quarters, such as eating, sitting, watching television, and hosting friends. As defined in ILCS §5/19-3, “a person commits residential burglary when he knowingly enters or remains within the dwelling place of another, or any part thereof, with the intent to commit a felony.” For the purpose of this statute, dwelling is defined as “a house, apartment, mobile home, trailer, or other living quarters” in which a person “actually resides.”…
The New York City skyline seemed to rise from the distance with the backdrop of a fiery star illuminating the sky. Shawn Carter gazed out his bedroom window, mesmerized by the possibilities that lay ahead of his Marcy's Housing project building; built for people who were in the face of disparity, too poor to live on their own. A constant thought he hated himself for that he was stuck at the bottom of the barrel. Yet the walls of a structure could not contain the dreams and ambitions of the young boy. Shawn knew he had a date with destiny, he just needed a spark to ignite the flame.…

These safe spaces become more attractive to heterosexual leading the higher demand in property and the rise in rent and real estate. A supposedly homeless person asked us for spare change and I told him I don’t have any. My friend was a bit surprised, not by my reaponse but the fact that I responded at all. She found it weird that I took time to explain.…
Constructive Eviction and the Implied Warranty of Habitability Steve has several causes of action. This particular jurisdiction recognizes constructive eviction which “occurs when residential rental property is in such disrepair or when a condition exists on the property that makes it extremely impossible or difficult to live there. The property is then said to be “uninhabitable”. (Constructive Eviction, n.d.). Because of implied warranty of habitability that requires landlords to keep their property "habitable," Steve could also use this cause of action.…

In modern times, the western approach towards nature and Life is practical in the sense that it can all be explained by a scientific phenomenon. Due to this mentality, spiritual connections to our roots, nature and Life, are abysmal. To Linda Hogan, writer of Dwellings, this inauspicious approach confirms a detachment from “the treaties once made with [nature]”(11), to which Native Americans dearly hold on to. Throughout Dwellings, Hogan recounts significant experiences that enable her to inch closer to her roots and raise her awareness on the beauties of Life.…
