Housing is a serious issue in Canada that is not dominating compared to other issues, showing that it is underrated / overlooked by governments which should not be the case. Housing in politics refers to the anything related to the building people live in, which includes the mortgage, renovations, and tax incentives and how affordable the property is. The main issues of housing that are currently among many Canadians, are 1/5 household spend more than 50 percent of their income towards their housing, which includes taxes, bills, mortgages, rent, etc. According to the Bank of Canada, housing is one of the greater threats to the Canadian economy as interest rates increase for people with mortgage, and this means that it can be hard for people …show more content…
Looking at the graph presented by CBC News, economy was first and is clearly shown it is very important, considering it has more than half of the respondents than the second place one, environment. Housing on the other hand, is not even on the graph, which is why you can tell nobody really cares about housing, thus proving that it is an underrated / overlooked issue. I believe that the housing issue in Canada should be something that many Canadian citizens should review before choosing their government, because if the government chosen doesn’t have good promises towards it, then you may end up being …show more content…
Looking at my research, he has descent promises towards housing in my opinion, but there could be better and there are a lot of things that he could do to help improve the housing issue. I believe that Justin Trudeau will invest $125 million on tax incentives for more affordable housing, look at the escalating housing market in expensive cities (e.g. Toronto) and finance construction on new affordable housing. What I believe that the government should do is give new home-owners a tax credit of at least over $5000. This will be beneficial to the owner, because it means that they can start a-new and afford to pay their loans in the future. The government should also look on providing shelter assistance to the many low-income household that lie in Canada, which can help the people living to start/live a better life. There are many homeless people that are in desperate need of help to find shelter, so the government should also decide how to help these poor people that are missing a human need in their life. If the government decides to consider and apply any of the things that were listed, it would only be very helpful to citizens/residents, but it would also be beneficial to the economy in
