This is effective because it causes the readers to question what is really going on in the photo. This is proven in photo 4, it is a kid in a classroom with a cone over the child’s head(85). Although this may seem crazy, it was just an old discipline for the children in the classroom. In contrast, in photo 3, there is a little boy on a path in the middle of the woods, there is also a figure holding him close. The figure is fully coated in a head to toe black gown. This proves that not all photos have to be over thought of what is happening. Therefore, the transformation was effective because it causes the readers to question themselves about what was actually happening in the photos. Transformation causes fear because what can originally seem good can always turn into a bad situation. Transformation in “Where is Here” by Oates creates fear because the stranger is very suspicious. Transformation in “House Taken Over” by Cortazar creates fear because the houses’ setting is very old and spacious. Transformation in “Dream Collector” by Tress creates fear because the photos can be very tricky as of what is actually
