In such a way that once Navidson enters the hallway he sees that there is no other place to go, but soon after he turns back around and another hallway appears. Navidson figures out that what causes the new hallways to appear is a small noise that modifies the interior of the house. Thus, causes Navidson to go in search for the sound that is located behind a wall, so he decides to leave a penny behind to trace his steps back. Nevertheless, Navidson soon realizes that the penny he left was directly in front of him. Upon turning back from the doorway Navidson entered, he recognizes that everything has changed. Rothko’s paintings were seen as a dark path going in search for the light at the end of the tunnel. Together his paintings worked as a sense of motivation on how the dark and light can work together to build hope for others. On the other hand, Navidson enters the hallway for the interest of wanting to see what is on the other side of the hallway. However, along the way he continues to find alternative routes and is conflicted on which route would lead him to the end of the hallway. Furthermore, in Rothko’s paintings, he does not make the edges smooth because along the way to reach a goal there are obstacles that need to be conquered. Along the way, there perhaps are paths that are blocked away, but later on, with the help of others, new paths can be discovered to alter the route and change the destination. Therefore, having unknown paths and going along with the present is better than trying to go through a set path because ahead nothing will go as planned due to being destined to go different
