House Of Hades

The book that I read was The House of Hades. The author is Rick Riordan. It is the 4th book in

the Heroes of Olympus series. But it starts off from where the Percy Jackson series ended, so it is

technically the 9th book. This book or series is played off from Greek and Roman mythology. This

specific book was published in October 8, 2013. Currently, the 10th book is now out. The intended

audience for this book are teenagers. The genre is fantasy adventure. But since this is the 9th book in the

series I should give some background.

First off, the original series (Percy Jackson series) was all from Percy’s point of view and in first

person. And it all revolved around one main enemy. The Titan, Kronos. He is the father of all the

And the next chapter could read “Percy”, again showing

that the story is now being told from his point of view. Using this manner of writing, you can get inside of

all the main character's head that switches off randomly, so you can’t predict whose perspective you are

going to see next.

The House of Hades has many positives, one being since there are so many characters, it makes it

so there a variety, makes it a variety personalities that the reader can relate to. For instance, Leo. He is

one of the 7 main characters, and he is my favorite character. He is a Latino who is the comic relief of the

book. The group can always count on Leo to ease up the tension of group. Another positive from the

group is that they all started out as a nobody or an underdog, and since everybody loves an underdog

story, it makes for a good read, seeing as how all these demi-gods have overcome their own challenges

circumstances. But those aren’t the only positives about this book, as I mentioned before, he writes this

series in a unique way. Third-person, and every chapter he changes up the point of view using the 7 main

characters. Making it a thriller to read. Moving on to the events of the books, it was an amazing read,

A perfect book for the school to read would need to be an exciting book, a long book, and one with tons of action! The book needs to have dramatic moments where readers are trapped reading until they find out what happens. The school needs to read a book series called "The Elementia Chronicles". The book would go great because none of the teachers, or even students would even know what the book is about. While the book isn't a classic, it has tons of action and moments where you are excited to read.…

I have just read a book called ‘’Percy Jackson The Demigod Files’’ by Rick Riordan and I thought it was a very interesting book and it is one of the best books I have read. There were three different storys in the book but all of them were about Percy Jackson. Percy is the main charahter in the book and he is the son of Poseidon and his mother is a mortal human. Since his father is immortal and his mother is a mortal human, that makes him a demigod/half-blood. Percy appears to live a normal teenage life but in reality he is a demigod who can control water with his powers that he has inherited from his father Poseidon.…

In Roman Mythology, Hades is considered the same as Pluto, and this derives from the Greek word “plouton” It is said that Hades preferred the name Pluto and rather despised to be called Hades. Pluto, associated with the god of wealth or riches because it was believed that all the precious minerals were found in the underworld. It is also said that the planet Pluto was named after Hades as the planet is representative of how cold and distant Hades was. Hades, though known as King of the Dead, should not be confused with King of Death, who is Thanatos.…

Hades, Pluto, Dis Pater, Orcus, Plouton or any other name you wish to call him is the god of riches, souls, and the underworld as well as the eldest of the three main brothers in mythology. Hades also has many symbols which consist of Cerberus, a drinking horn, a scepter, Cypress, Narcissus, and a key. His brothers Zeus, god of the sky, and Poseidon, god of the ocean, are also sons of Cronus. Hades was not considered to be death itself, or an Olympian, however was thought to cause death and so the Greeks were not keen in uttering his name. There were also accounts of sacrificial practices made in honour of Hades, carried out at night and where the blood of victims was left to seep down into the earth to reach the underworld god.…

There are some distinguishable similarities between Homer’s description of Hades and Virgil’s description of Hades. First and foremost, one can note that the purpose of both Odysseus and Aeneas went to Hades was to receive knowledge. Even though the knowledge that Odysseus received from the underworld was different from Aeneas, the purpose of their trip to the underworld was fundamentally the same. “While I dug an ell-square pit with my sword; And poured libation to all the dead; First with milk and honey, then with sweet wines; And a third time with water…; After these supplications to the spirits; I cut sheeps’ throats over the pit; And the dark blood pooled there.” In Book XI of Odyssey as soon as Odysseus reached the entrance of Hades…
