Hot Springs National Park is located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was established March 4, 1921. It is the smallest of all the national parks and is the only one that is almost inside a whole city. Hot Springs National Park has attracted many tourist and is a great place to go visit. It is extremely pretty and has many interesting places to go to. Its most famous attraction is the bathhouses, water. That's what first attracted people, and they have been coming here ever since to use the soothing thermal waters to heal and relax. Rich and poor alike came for the baths, and a thriving city built up around the hot springs. However, France reclaimed the land in 1800 three years later, when the Louisianan Purchase occurred.It was in 1807 when the first settlers, Jean Emmanuel Prudhomme, came to Hot Springs. He regained in good health after living here for two years, bathing in the eternal hot water and eating the local foods. However, after a few years, he did return to Louisiana; soon after, Isaac Cates and John Perciful arrived in the area. It was in 1921 when the Hot Springs Reservation was officially named the Hot Springs National Park by the US Congress. This was almost 900 acres at the time when the North Mountain, West Mountain, Whittington Lake Park, Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Hot Springs Mountain all became part of the land. The park has bathhouses, and the bathhouses are separated into two sides: a side for women and a side for men. A bath attendant guides you from the dressing area to the bathtub, then to the sitz bath or vapor cabinet, hot packs and cooling area. You may finish with a massage for an additional fee. In years past, the higher-priced bathhouses also provided extra facilities like gymnasiums, music parlors, billiards, and even a bowling alley. Now, the remaining Bathhouse Row structures in Hot Springs National Park are part of a National Historic Landmark District and represent the grandest collection of such bathhouses in North America (“Hot Springs National Park - National Geographic. 2015” ).
The base of the Hot Springs Mountain is where the springs are found grouped together. There is a huge flow of almost half a million gallons each day. The hot water goes to different bathhouses, which also helps to put money into the American Treasury each year.
