He comes home to find many suitors trying to marry his wife. Odysseus runs into a few suitors, one in particular who is very disrespectful to him. “Not a shred of sense in your head, you filthy drifter! Not content to feast at your ease with us, the island’s pride?” (page 433). Although the man doesn’t know he is Odysseus, today it would be impolite to insult other guests no matter what their status is or what they look like. Later on Odysseus’s wife, unbeknownst to her, come to defend him by saying “‘how impolite it would be, how wrong, to scant whatever guest Telemachus welcomes into his house.” (page 434). Today, defending a guest would show how much you care for their wellbeing, no matter who they are and this is just what Odysseus’s wife
