The most important objective for any patient with a chronic condition is close monitoring of their disease. This requires patients to not only take multiple readings a day, but also requires them to be accurate in recording those readings. Doctors I spoke with expressed concern about the reliability of data captured manually by patients. This is very problematic given a patient, with multiple morbidities, may be required to take as many as 10 separate readings a day from their glucometer, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, and weight scale.
